Dear valued client:
Fall has finally arrived. We're still hoping for a little Indian Summer. Of interest is as follows:
1. Estate changes - Still waiting for the Federal Government to get around to a decision on what they are going to do with the tax rates come January 1st. There's all kinds of speculation. At this stage, we're in the wait-and-see mode.
2. Election - Although we have been trying to help several local people get elected (Jeff and Paladino), it looks like a tough, uphill climb. Nonetheless, we will continue to support where we can, and hope for the best. Obviously, New York State needs a lot of TLC. Tax rates are wacky. So, also, is the mess we have in Albany. We'll see, come a few weeks.
3. Our Summer party under the tent, was fun. Seems more people come each year to enjoy the nibbles, and watch the Old Home Days Parade. Sorry, if you missed it!
In spite of this lousy economy, we still seem to be a busy place. We recently got in two estates of a husband and wife who died close together. With some creative law, we may be able to have last to die renounce their benefit and, thereby, even out the estates, saving substantial dollars in estate taxes for the ultimate beneficiaries. Kind of creative, but well worth the effort. This is known as "Post Death Planning".
Have a good Fall! We continue to appreciate your business, and thank you for it.
Sincerely,
John P. Robshaw Jr, Esq. Jeffrey F. Voelkl, Esq., LL.M.
